Heritage Cleaning — Conservator-Led Assessment

Let the conservation objective determine whether a cleaning trial should be considered at all. No heritage treatment, conservator-approved result or material-preservation capability is verified in the supplied project records.

01 / DEFINE THE ACTUAL TASK

Workpiece and removal target

Component to confirm

Name the object and identify the substrate and historically significant surface layers through the responsible conservator. A carved fragment or coated sample is a proposed enquiry subject, not a documented CleanEraser treatment.

Layer to identify

Ask the conservator to distinguish an unwanted deposit from patina, pigment or another layer to preserve. Neither the deposit identity nor permission to remove it can be inferred from appearance.

02 / SELECTION STATUS

Equipment type and selection rationale

No machine is recommended for the object. Precision Pulse is linked only to organize questions about local treatment and inspection; Portable Pulse addresses transport constraints if the conservator later permits a trial. The names do not prove preservation of historic material.

03 / BEFORE A PROCESS IS APPROVED

Process variables and approval boundaries

Conservation objective

Record why removal is proposed and which surface history must be preserved.

Observation plan

Have the conservator define the baseline documentation, examinations and stop criteria.

Permission and handling

Obtain the owner's treatment and image permissions and the conservator's handling instructions.

04 / PROPOSED, NOT A COMPLETED CASE

Suggested test workflow (建议测试流程)

  1. Ask the conservator to document the object, layer interpretation and treatment objective before an equipment discussion.
  2. Use only a surrogate or test area explicitly approved by the conservator, with a baseline record and agreed stop criteria.
  3. If the conservator authorizes a trial, retain the actual configuration and observation record for each identified area.
  4. Have the conservator compare the evidence and decide whether to reject, revise or limit further work; record that decision without claiming universal material safety.
05 / EVIDENCE TO ADD

Images, video and documents

Pending: owner-authorized object documentation, conservator-approved test-area photographs and a reviewed treatment report. No restoration before-and-after story is available.

Evidence basis: the project content and asset registers contain no verified case or approved media for this industry. Product links lead to concept reviews, not qualification evidence. The questions and workflow above are editorial proposals for review, not recorded results.

06 / APPLICATION-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

Questions for Heritage restoration

Can a dark surface layer simply be treated as dirt?

Its identity has not been established here. The conservator must determine which layers carry significance and whether any removal is permitted.

Is the page evidence that laser cleaning preserves patina?

No. There is no supplied preservation study for a named object, and no patina-preservation claim is made.
